Double Suction Pump

High-Flow Water Supply, Intake and Circulation Systems

The SLOW double suction pump is designed for high-flow transfer of clean water and compatible neutral liquids in municipal water supply, intake stations, cooling-water circulation and irrigation projects.

SLOW Double Suction Pump for High-Flow Water Transfer

Lower Load & Longer Service Life

The pump uses a double-volute casing and double-suction impeller to balance axial forces, reduce bearing loads, and ensure longer, more stable operation.

Stable Operation with Optimized Inlet Flow

The optimized inlet flow eliminates vortex formation, ensures uniform impeller suction, minimizes hydraulic losses, and provides smooth and efficient performance.

Reliable Sealing with Replaceable Wear Rings

The fully sealed shaft prevents liquid contact and corrosion, while replaceable wear rings protect the casing and reduce maintenance costs.

Flexible Installation & Reduced Footprint

The self-aligning pump cover and flexible inlet/outlet configuration allow easy installation and reduce space requirements.

Durable Construction for Demanding Conditions

The double-suction impeller minimizes axial forces, and high-quality components ensure durable, low-vibration, and reliable long-term performance.

SLOW SERIES TECHNICAL & SELECTION GUIDE

SLOW Double Suction Pump: Technical and Selection Guide

The SLOW is a horizontal split-case, double-suction centrifugal pump for high-flow clean-water and compatible neutral-liquid duties. Liquid enters both sides of the impeller, while the double-volute casing and double-suction impeller help balance hydraulic forces and reduce bearing load.

Series range, not one model: the figures below describe the published SLOW series envelope. Flow, head, port size, motor, speed, materials and pressure limits are not all available in one pump configuration. Final supply must be confirmed on a model-specific datasheet, approved Q-H curve and project documents.

CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION

How the SLOW Double Suction Pump Works

Liquid enters the impeller eye from both sides. The rotating impeller increases liquid velocity; the split casing and volute convert part of that velocity into pressure and guide the liquid to discharge. The double-entry flow path helps balance axial hydraulic forces, while the double-volute casing reduces radial loading for stable high-flow operation.

Hydraulic assembly

Double-suction impeller, split casing and double-volute passage distribute inlet flow and reduce axial and radial loading.

Shaft and sealing

The sealed shaft arrangement limits liquid contact, while replaceable wear rings protect major casing surfaces.

Bearings and service access

Lower hydraulic loading supports stable operation. The split casing provides access for inspection without disturbing connected pipework, subject to model design.

BUYER QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a double suction pump?

A double suction pump feeds liquid to both sides of one impeller. This supports high-flow duties and helps balance axial hydraulic force.

How is it different from an end-suction pump?

An end-suction pump normally feeds the impeller from one side. A double suction pump feeds both sides and is commonly selected for higher-flow water-transfer duties.

Are 6,276 m³/h and 306 m available from one model?

No. They are limits of the overall SLOW series envelope. The selected model curve defines the available flow-head combination.

Why must NPSH be checked?

The pump NPSHr must be compared with the system NPSHa with an adequate margin to reduce cavitation risk.

Can a SLOW pump be used for seawater?

Only after liquid chemistry, chloride level, wetted materials, seal, fasteners and corrosion allowance are reviewed for the project.

Can the SLOW operate on both 50 Hz and 60 Hz?

The series material lists both frequencies, but the selected motor and model-specific performance curve must match the actual site supply.

Is the SLOW self-priming?

Do not assume self-priming. Confirm flooded-suction or priming arrangements, suction lift, air evacuation and NPSHa for the installation.

What should I send for pump selection?

Send flow points, total head, suction conditions, liquid data, temperature, power supply, material preference, quantity, destination and required standards.
