What Is a QW Non-Clogging Submersible Sewage Pump?

The Norite QW series is a wastewater submersible pump range that combines the motor and hydraulic section in one submerged unit. It is intended for wastewater containing suspended solids or fibrous material, subject to the selected hydraulic design and solids passage. QW is the general sewage-duty family; review QWS when cutting is required and QWX when higher head is the main constraint. The listed arrangements are fixed guide-rail, mobile and free-standing.

Series range, not one model: the values below describe the overall QW series envelope. Final performance, solids passage, material, motor and installation details must be confirmed on the selected model datasheet, drawing and Q-H curve.

QW Submersible Sewage Pump Installation Options

Installation choice affects pipework, access, lifting, cable routing, operating levels and maintenance.

Supplied installation reference image; confirm the selected QW arrangement.
Fixed guide-rail coupling

For permanent wet wells

The pump can be lowered to a base connection and retrieved along the rails. Confirm the coupling base, rails, chain, pipe and valve arrangement.

Mobile installation

For temporary or movable service

Confirm the hose or pipe connection, base support, lifting method, power cable protection and stable operating position.

Free-standing submerged

For sump-floor placement

Check floor stability, minimum submergence, operating level, retrieval access and discharge routing.

Applications for QW Non-Clog Submersible Sewage Pumps

Wastewater composition, solids, corrosion, temperature and site conditions determine whether a specific model is suitable.

Supplied application reference image; suitability depends on the selected QW model and duty.

Municipal wastewater

Wet wells, sewage lift stations and related drainage duties.

Stormwater control

Urban drainage, emergency dewatering and flood-water transfer.

Industrial wastewater

Industrial effluent after chemistry, solids and materials review.

Construction sites

Temporary dewatering with attention to grit, debris and wear.

Underground spaces

Garages, subways, tunnels and other below-grade drainage.

Rural wastewater

Wastewater transfer where liquid content and installation are defined.

QW vs QWS vs QWX Sewage Pumps

Select the family from the wastewater and hydraulic duty, not from the series name alone.

QW

General sewage duty

For submerged wastewater, stormwater and dewatering duties where suspended solids or fibres may be present.

Reducing blockage and maintenance

The original station was reported to experience repeated blockage, high operating cost and frequent maintenance. The supplied project record states that a 40 HP non-clog submersible sewage pump replaced the old unit.

QW Non-Clog Submersible Sewage Pump FAQs

What can a QW non-clogging submersible sewage pump handle?

The series is intended for sewage and wastewater that may contain suspended solids and fibrous material. Suitability depends on particle size, fibre length, solids concentration, grit, oils or grease, impeller and passage size.

Does non-clogging mean the pump cannot clog?

No. The term describes a hydraulic design intended to reduce blockage risk in suitable sewage duties. It does not cover every rag, wipe, fibre, oversized solid or wet-well condition.

Is the full 8-5500 m³/h and 8-110 m range available in every model?

No. Those figures describe the series envelope. Flow, head, power, speed, discharge size, material and installation combinations vary by model.

Can the QW series be supplied for 50 Hz or 60 Hz?

The listed supply options are 380 V / 50 Hz and 400 V / 60 Hz. Confirm the exact voltage, frequency, phase and motor rating for the selected model.

Which installation type should I choose?

A fixed guide-rail coupling suits permanent wet wells and simplifies retrieval. Mobile and free-standing arrangements suit temporary or less permanent installations.

When should I review QWS or QWX instead?

Review QWS when the duty specifically requires a cutting mechanism. Review QWX when higher head is the main need. Compare the actual curves and wastewater requirements.
